Best Water Conditioning Tips For New Restaurant Owners

Business Blog

If you have recently opened a new restaurant, pure and clean water should be your first priority. This is one way to ensure that your guests receive top-notch treatment and always stay healthy and safe. If you want to attain this goal, try the best water conditioning techniques. Water treatment and conditioning are all about the removal of impurities by straining out. This is important as your restaurant water could be too hard to drink or use for cleaning utensils. With a proper water conditioner, you can filter and remove minerals from your water. This will improve its taste and get rid of hardness. So, are you ready to sanitize and soften your restaurant water? If so, the following are nice tips to follow.

The problem to address

As you searched for a place to locate your eatery business, perhaps you only wanted to know that it has enough water. So now that you have started operating, you have noticed that your restaurant water is hard. This is the problem you should address. Hard water has dissolved ions of calcium, magnesium, and/or iron. When water has these ions, it leaves behind water spots and limescale on utensils and appliances like dishwasher, hot water heater, and plumbing systems. Eventually, these deposits will damage your appliances.

How to condition your hard water

Water conditioning for commercial establishments like a restaurant is easier now thanks to groundbreaking filtration equipment and water softeners. There are different water conditioners, and water softeners are just one of these. Regardless, conditioners work in different ways, including adding a disinfectant like chlorine to filtered water so as to kill germs that are naturally found in water. While all water supplies in the U.S. are generally safe, you can add this disinfectant to your restaurant water just to make sure that customers with compromised immune systems drink safer water. Additionally, you can do the following.

Reverse osmosis (RO)

This is an inexpensive way of getting rid of ninety-nine percent of water contaminants. It can remove all particles, organic matter and bacteria even if they are tiny and invisible. An RO filter may be a practical way to produce purer drinking water for your small eatery and a way to protect your other appliances fro,m quick failure. Thus, purchase one or more commercial reverse osmosis systems and have them installed in a professional manner to produce clean tap water.

Water softening

This is a good way to turn your hard water to soft water for drinking and cleaning. Commercial water softeners use ion exchange resins that are usually in the form of beads. These are packed in ion exchange columns or cylinders that can be built into your restaurant's appliances or water systems. Mineral ions in hard water are eventually swapped for sodium ions that come attached to the resin beads. Calcium, iron, and magnesium ions get attached to the beads while sodium ions get into the water.

So the water that leaves the cylinder no longer has hard water ions and is safe for drinking. As the process continues, resin beads will be packed with magnesium, iron, and calcium ions. At this point, you will need to carry out a regeneration process using salt.

As you choose a commercial water softener or a reverse osmosis system for your water treatment, make sure it is energy-efficient, saves water, is easy to clean, and is user-friendly.
